Do you create healthy habits in your life?
Healthy habits are definitely not about being perfect or ‘clean’, but rather about being respectful to what your body needs at the time and creating balance to your personal overall world.
We are told to move more and make sure you get your 10,000 steps in, but don’t move too much because thats not good either as it will increase your cortisol levels etc. Our society is so overwhelmed with mass contradictory information that its impossible to know what is enough or too much of anything, therefore we never know if we are actually ‘healthy’.
Perfect is not a number, its not 10,000 daily steps its the level at which your body thrives and is in homeostasis. For each and every person it is a very different story and is created with different healthy habits.
It’s important to learn to find balance for your body. Exercise enough that you can achieve your goals but also rest enough that you are recovering. Eat enough that you are full but more importantly make sure you eat real foods that can nourish your body and stay full, so you don’t need to snack on unnecessary extras. Every day eat whole-foods, protein rich sources, fruits and vegetables in a balance that your body needs according to your energy requirements and body type.
Make sure you get 7-9 hours of quality sleep each night as without the reset button your hormones are not in balance each day. When you consider that your smartphone needs to recharge fully daily, consider that you do too.
Sometimes these things are a little bit more trial and error than you’d prefer, but without testing your daily energy levels and your body’s responses to different exercise modalities you won’t be able to know what is the healthy habit you specifically would benefit the most from.
It can be most helpful to work with a specialist in their field such as a trainer or a nutritionist, to create a personalized plan that is professionally developed and will have been designed specifically with your needs in mind.
Healthy habits include drinking wine, or other alcoholic beverages in moderation. It is most definitely part of a balanced life to be able to enjoy all these things as long as they are controlled.
All in all it has to be about your life and what you enjoy and how you can create a balance of those things in healthy habits.
